Dave Michaels

Dave Michaels lost his battle with cancer April 20, 2011 at 11:35am. Thankfully, he passed in peace with one of two sisters by his side.

Dave MichaelsDave Michaels was extraordinary and the ultimate radio person through and through. He was one of the finest Program Director's I've ever known. His radio stations were winners because they were done right and they are superbly programmed. He was far and away the most dedicated Program Director ever. This is really a very small tribute to my friend of over 30 years. Dave has been involved with some of America's best radio stations and I am proud to say he has been one of my best friends for over 30 years.

Dave and I shared many things including the curse of "always being right" and the creative and frequent use of the most under appreciated word in the language - "fuck." Despite the fact that we both have always believed we were right, Dave and I never had a fight and we worked together at 7-8 different radio stations to fix them and make them winners. The man can make you look great, trust me on that. We both kept each other challenged and honest over the years.

The links below will show you the love Dave has from his friends and comrades. A warning, if you're easily offended don't click on these links and as my buddy Dave would say, if you don't like it, you can just go fuck yourself. Amen brother. (Sorry about the amen Dave, I'm from the south. But may I point out that you are the one from Fresno!) Dialog may have been edited for time in the video and audio.

Love ya buddy!

Letter from Rick Torcasso

Dave, known then as Mark Daniels, helped Rick get into radio

Letter from Mike O'Neil

Dave met Mike in L-A at KLAC and worked with him later at KHJ and K-Earth

News Release from Citadel Media

BTW, with all the negative stuff we hear about radio companies these days, Citadel Media has shown nothing but kindness, compassion, support, and grace throughout Dave's ordeal. John Rosso and everyone in Dallas on Montfort including Carl, Chris, and Maureen could not have been kinder to Dave or stood behind anyone anymore than they did him.

Story from All Access

Always a friend. Thanks Joel.
